Mwanza Urban Water and Sanitation Authority (MWAUWASA) is one of the competitively best Authorities in the Tanzanian water and sanitation sector supplying clean and safe water and providing efficient sanitation services for the residents of Mwanza City and other designated areas. The Authority is hereby inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced, dynamic and motivated Tanzanians to fill the understated vacancies that currently exist in the Authority:
WATER ARTISAN II (7 Posts)
Appointing Authority: Managing Director
Employment Terms: Contract of unspecified period
Responsible to: Zone Water Network Operation Supervisor
Subordinates: None
Salary scale: MWAUWASA’s Salary Scale of MAS 3
Required minimum qualifications:
Possession of Certificate of secondary education (Form IV) or Advanced certificate of secondary education (Form VI). Possession of a Trade Test II or level two certificate in Pipe Fitting and Plumbing from VETA or recognized Training Institute; Age limit is 35 years. Experience in water works from water utilities or similar organizations is added advantage
Duties and responsibilities:
• Detects and attends all physical leakage in his/her territory (DMAs) timely and at reasonable cost
• Investigates, reports to his/her seniors and rectifies water supply bypasses, meter tempering and unmetered customers in his/her territory (DMAs)
• Maintains quality of pipe materials and fittings together with workmanship in excavating, laying pipes and backfilling
• Participants fully in emergency work, day and night patrols whenever required by supervisor
• Connects water supply to relevant new customers in time
• Coordinates of the location of new customers by GPS and accounts for the same
• Inspects water network in his/her territory and reports on unusual water availability and unclean water.
• Any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor/superiors.
MECHANICAL ARTISAN – FABRICATION & WELDING II (1 POST)
Required minimum qualifications:
Possession of a form IV/VI certificate. Trade Test Grade l/ll of fabrication & welding from recognized Institution, Age should not be above 35 years. Experience in fabrication & welding from reputable organizations is an added advantage.
Duties and responsibilities:
Employees duties includes but not limited to the following: –
• . Performs all metal fabrication and welding activities under supervision of senior staff.
• . Solve welding problems in water pumps, water network and sewerage network.
• Clean tools, equipment and workshop as directed.
• Works in apprenticeship capacity.
• Performs specified trade tasks.
• Performs any other work related duties as may be given by his/her supervisor.
MECHANICAL ARTISAN – PUMPS II (2 POSTS)
Appointing Authority: Managing Director
Employment Terms: Contract of unspecified period
Responsible to: Head of Pant & Production
Subordinates: None.
Salary Scale: MWAUWASA’s Salary Scale of MAS 3
Required minimum qualifications:
Possession of Trade Test Grade l/ll (or equivalent) in Pump mechanics from a recognized Institution, at least 3 years’experience in water works from water utilities or similar organizations, age limit is 35 years.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee’s duties include but not limited to the following: –
• Performs specific mechanical trade tasks which require application of skill and knowledge independently with accuracy and speed.
• Assists Mechanical Technicians with all mechanical problems and other day today activities.
• Assists different plants regarding plants mechanical faults.
• Performing any other duties as may be assigned by his/her supervisor
CIVIL TECHNICIAN II (4 POSTS)
Appointing Authority: Managing Director
Employment Terms: Contract of unspecified period
Responsible to: Head of Infrastructure Development
Subordinates: None.
Salary Scale: MWAUWASA’s Salary Scale of MAS 6
Holder of FTC/Diploma in Civil Water Supply and Sanitation Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution and must be ICT literate with good interpersonal communication skills. She/he should not be above 45 years of age. Experience in water works from water utilities or similar organizations is added advantage.

Duties and responsibilities:
Employee’s duties include but not limited to the following:-
• Participate in collecting, compiling and evaluating data on water production and distribution and wastewater quality works;
• Participate in undertaking survey, preparation of drawings/sketches of existing and proposed water and waste water works, structures and buildings;
• Assist in conducting mapping of water and wastewater infrastructure; and customer connection;
• Participate in maintaining data on production/updated water and waste water systems maps, customer/distribution/collection systems and data on population served;
• Participate in rehabilitation and extension of water and wastewater faulty networks;
• Ensure that record of daily breakdowns of water distribution system and repaired breakdowns are properly kept;
• Participate in investigating causes of water loss;
• Participate in preparing periodic performance reports of water and wastewater activities; and
• Perform any other duties related to the above assigned by supervisor.
RECORDS MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT II (1 POST)

Required minimum qualifications:
Holder of Form IV/VI National Examination Certificate with a Certificate in Records Management from a recognized institution; and working experience of at least two (2) years in the records management. Must be ICT literate with interpersonal communication skills.
