Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) Officers 

Management and Development for Health (MDH) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation whose primary aim is to contribute to address public health prior ties of the people of Tanzania and the world at large. These priorities include: communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Reproductive, Maternal, New-born and Child health (RMNCH); Nutrition; Non Communicable Diseases of public health significance; as well as Health System Strengthening. Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MOHCDGEC); President’s Office Regional Authorities and Local Government (PORALG); donor agencies; academic and non-academic institutions; implementing partners; civil society, community-based and faith-based organizations and others. All job positions require significant field work and travel up to 80% of the time. MDH don’t have any agents and don’t charge any fees or commission or any payments to the interested candidates. MEDICALLY ASSISTED THERAPY (MAT) OFFICERS 2 Posts; Par es Salaam

Reports to: MAT MANAGER

Job Summary: The Medically Assisted Therapy (MAT) officer works with and supports the MDH MAT Manager to ensure efficient implementation, M&E and reporting of Medically Assisted Therapy services in supported regions. S/he is responsible for the field implementation, coordination and reporting of all MAT initiatives in her/his respective region under the guidance of the MAT manager and in collaboration with other MDH staff and relevant regional, council and health facility staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

To support the MAT Manager in implementation, M&E and reporting of MAT Key performance indicators under the Afya Kwanza project, in line with project work-plan
Work with region and district teams to establish and integrate HIV prevention into MAT services and other initiatives as appropriate.
Work with MOHCDGEC, PORALG, DCEA R/CHMT and GHSC to incorporate MAT commodities needs and devices into national supply chain system
In Collaboration with CHMTs, provide clinical mentorship and supportive supervision to health care facilities implementing MAT Services.
Conduct Quarterly Quality assurance and monitor adherence to National MAT guidelines.
Assist to develop annual MAT work plan and ensures MAT targets achieved 100%.
Collaborate with local authorities and engage them in the MAT program from planning to implementation.
Ensure that MAT clients recruitment activities in collaboration with the CSO, local government authorities and other stake holders are conducted.
Collaborate with M&E unit and ensure availability of national MAT, M&E tools at all the time
To support the MAT Manager in writing technical program documents including, reports, best practices, lessons learned and other relevant documents
To support and advise MAT Manager on all Medically Assisted Therapy issues and perform other relevant duties as assigned by the MAT Manager


Requirements: Education, work experience and skills:

Doctor of Medicine (MD, MB Ch BS) or equivalent from a recognized medical Institution; Trained in advanced HIV Management At least three years experience working in HIV care and treatment and conducting training on HIV management
Proven experience in writing reports
At least 5 years working experience in implementing HIV prevention, care and treatment programs for adults and children
Experience in implementing HIV Prevention among People who inject Drugs (PWID) and Medically Assisted Therapy
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
Proficiency in both written and oral English and Swahili languages
Good working knowledge in computer software application such as MS word, Excel, Access, Power Point and internet
Ability to work under pressure and timely meet deadlines
Ability to plan, develop and work independently
Ability to work both individually and as part of a team
Ability to conduct trainings
